The ministry of education, science, culture and sports of the RA “A. Yerznkyan h. 118 High School ”SNCO is a separate high school, whose mission is to ensure the readiness of students to lead an independent life, to receive primary, secondary or higher professional education in accordance with their preferences, abilities, preferences and preferences.
The aim of the school’s activities is to ensure that students have mastered the state standard of general education, subject standards and program content, ensures the multifaceted development of the individual, the preservation of his health, as well as the creation of conditions for self-education and meeting the needs of additional education.
The subject of the school’s activity is the implementation of basic (general) general education programs. Secondary general education programs include in-depth study of flow or individual subjects.
The school implements natural science and mathematics and humanitarian programs. The school was founded in 1961 as Yerevan’s A. Yerznkyan h. 118 secondary schools. It has been called since its foundation and is still named after the famous Armenian public and political figure Aramayis Yerznkyan.
The first director of the school was Hovhannes Levon Baghdasaryan (1961-1970).
The school was also headed by Misha Badalyan (1970-1989), Norayr Ghukasyan (1989-1991), Larisa Azizyan (1991-2006).
Among the graduates of the school are Tatyana Abrahamyan (USSR champion of artistic gymnastics), Gohar Arzanyan (principal of Yerevan school No. 126), Samvel Badalyan (Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor), Leon Barkhudaryan (RA Minister of Finance (1993-1997), RA Minister of Finance). Minister of Economy (1999-2000), Ashot Khachatryan (forward of “Ararat” football club), Vahagn Khachatryan (mayor of Yerevan (1995-1998)), Arsen Kotikyan (world wrestling champion), Araks Mansuryan (soloist of the Sydney State Opera House) , Susanna Chaloyan (actress), Mkhitar Chilingaryan (freedom fighter killed in the Artsakh liberation war), Vache Terteryan (RA Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration), Israel Jamakyan (1959-1994) (freedom fighter killed in the Artsakh liberation war) and others. Karine Karleni Hovakimyan has been the principal of the school since 2006.
In order to increase the quality of education, to develop students’ abilities and skills, in 2009 The introduction of the collective teaching method in the school has started, which is an innovative way of teaching on the basis of the ideology of cooperation.
There are favorable conditions for teaching at the school: rich material and technical base, computer classrooms, physics, chemistry and biology laboratories, equipped with the necessary laboratory equipment, the latest laboratory equipment and supplies.
Since 2010, the Republican round of the Biology and Chemistry School Olympiads has been held at the school. Within the framework of the cooperation agreements signed with the Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi and the Yerevan State University, the university lecturers also teach at the school.
The students of the school regularly take part in community, regional, republican, various international events and competitions, have success, and win prizes.
